The scanner unit is driven with scanner wires [D] which are driven by the scanner drive motor [E]. Scanning is done with one run from left to right.
Scanner position control (for the 1st carriage [A]) uses the scanner home position sensor [B] as a reference point. The scanner home position sensor is near the scan area of the ADF exposure glass.
