Symptom
J024/J074 occurred when feeding thick paper.
Cause
The leading edge of the paper [A] hits the fusing entrance guide plate and the paper floats away from the transport belt [B] due to the thickness of the paper.
Solution 1
Set the paper in the trays neatly to prevent paper skew at the entrance of the fusing unit.
If this does not solve the problem, do Solution 2.
Solution 2
Adjust the angle of the transport belt against the fusing nip.

Side effect: A jam may occur when feeding rough surfaced A4 paper in LEF. |
Mark on the black bracket: Triangle (high angle) [B]
Effect: Rough surfaced A4 paper is fed smoothly. | |
Side effect: Worm tracks and wrinkles may be made on plain or thin paper. |
Mark on the black bracket: No mark (low angle) [C]
Effect: Small size thick paper is fed smoothly. | |
Side effect: A jam may occur when feeding curled paper. |
Adjustment Procedure of the Separation Lever
- Remove the fusing unit. (Removing the Fusing Unit)
Remove the springs of the paper transport belt unit [A].
Open the paper transport belt unit [A], and remove the separation lever [B].
Adjust the position of the separation lever according to the paper type and paper size.
- When attaching the separation lever, pay attention to the following.
- Align the '-' marking [B] on the separation lever with the center of the marking [A] on the paper transport belt unit.
- Ensure that the actuator [C] on the separation lever enters the sensor.
