- KCMY Color Balance Adjustment -

The adjustment uses only "Offset" values.

  • Never change "Option" values (the default value is 0).

Highlight (Low ID)

Levels 1 through 6 in the C5-Y chart 13-level scale

Middle (Middle ID)

Levels 3 through 10 in the C5-Y chart 13-level scale

Shadow (High ID)

Levels 7 through 12 in the C5-Y chart 13-level scale

ID max

Level 13 in the C5-Y chart 13-level scale (affects the entire image density)

Offset

The higher the number in the range associated with the low ID, middle ID, high ID, and ID max, the greater the density.

There are four adjustable modes (can be adjusted with SP4-918-009):

  • Copy Photo mode
  • Copy Letter mode
  • Copy Letter (Single Color) mode
  • Copy Photo (Single Color) mode

- Adjustment Procedure -

  1. Copy the C-5Y chart in the mode that you want to adjust.
  2. Enter the SP mode.
  3. Select "System SP."
  4. Select SP4-918-009.
  5. Adjust the offset values until the copy quality conforms to the standard (see the table below).

    • 1. Never change the "Option" value (the default value is "0").
    • 2. Adjust the density in this order: "ID Max", "Middle", "Shadow", "Highlight".

Adjust the offset value so that dirty background does not show on the copy and the density of level 3 is slightly lighter than that of level 3 on the C-5Y chart.

Adjust the offset value so that the color balance of black scale levels 3 through 5 in the copy is seen as gray (no C, M, or Y should be visible). If the black scale contains C, M, or Y, do steps 1 to 4 again.

  • Text parts of the test pattern cannot be printed clearly after you adjust "shadow" as shown above. At this time, check if the 5 line/mm pattern at each corner is printed clearly. If it is not, adjust the offset value of "shadow" again until it is.
